About AUASA
‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know!’
A cliché, but having the right connections and knowing where to turn for advice is a valuable asset in life. With this in mind, a number of students studying Agricultural Sciences at the University of Adelaide felt the course would be enhanced with the presence of a social network. Subsequently, the Adelaide University Agricultural Students Association (AUASA) was formed in 2010 as a student-led, not-for-profit organisation with the objectives of bringing together those currently studying agriculture by organising and holding social events and facilitating interaction with the wider agricultural community.
Students nearing the completion of the degree are told ‘you have the world at your feet,’ however, when entering such a diverse job environment, it can be difficult to know where to take the first steps. AUASA hopes to assist students with those first steps by broadening their knowledge and understanding of industries, increasing their contacts within industries, and making them aware of potential career opportunities.
